Tax Strategies for Entrepreneurs

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) developed the Gig Economy Tax Center to guide entrepreneurs through tax policy and help them meet their tax obligations. Learn about this and other IRS resources and policies designed to promote entrepreneurship in the United States. This event will be interactive. Reference material is available at https://bit.ly/NJIT_Taxes_Entr About the speaker: Jill Maniacci is a senior stakeholder liaison with the IRS. She collaborates, informs and communicates priority outreach messages to taxpayer communities. Previously, Jill was an agent with the IRS Large Business and International (LB&I) and the Small Business/Self-Employed (SB/SE) divisions for 18 years, where she worked on high-profile cases including kingpins and Ponzi schemes in New York. She was also a collaborating agent for the IRS Criminal Investigation division and an acting group manager in SB/SE, LB&I and Communications & Liaison.

The National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) and VentureWell have come together to support and expand the Design by Biomedical Undergraduate Teams (DEBUT) Challenge, a competition that recognizes undergraduate excellence in biomedical design and innovation. DEBUT challenges teams of students in undergraduate biomedical education to solve real-world problems in healthcare. Prizes of up to $20,000 will be awarded! Application deadline is June 18th. DEBUT is open to undergraduate students only.

Hey Future Innovators! Are you brimming with ideas that could change the world? Got a business concept that’s been simmering in your mind? It’s time to bring those ideas to life! We’re thrilled to invite applications for our "NextGen Innovators Track" in our Annual Business Plan Competition. No Business? No Problem! You don’t need an established business to apply. Just an idea and the passion to pursue it. Registration deadline is Feb 13. The first part submission that is due by 2/13 requires the student/team to submit the first 3 boxes of the business model canvas (Problem, Solution and UVP). The submission needs to be emailed to bizplan@kean.edu . If they are selected to advance beyond the first stage, the final submission requires completing all the boxes of the business model canvas.

Rice Business Plan Competition

Hosted and organized by the Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship, which is Rice University's internationally-recognized initiative devoted to the support of entrepreneurship, and Rice Business, the Rice Business Plan Competition offers an educational program mirroring real-world experience through this multi-day event for student startups from across the world. Student founders pitch to investors, receive feedback and advance their startup. e-Fest: Undergraduate Entrepreneurship Competition
